So much calories. But apparently, walnut is high in this Omega-3 Fatty Acid, which is good for you. Of course, everything should be eaten moderately.

Then for my curiosity, I had to wiki 'nuts'.

Nut is a hard shelled fruit of some plants that has an indehiscent seed. (Wikipedia)

I guess if you're not convinced: when you eat an almond, after peeling or cracking the hard shell, the almond that you eat is the seed that can grow another almond tree. Just like a seed from a tomato or an apple.

I wished I had Kirkland Vanilla icecream right now. Love to eat it with chocolate syrup and walnuts. Also, Buca di Beppo's Apple Gorganzola Salad with the apples and walnuts is very delicious too.

Toucholic

Washing hair can become an addiction. I remember when I was young, I only washed my hair every five days because I had long hair. Also, I never used conditioner. Kind of the same reason why I never knew softener existed until college. (Always wonder why kid's PE clothes are so much softer than mine, and hair is more smooth).

I think starting some point in elementary school, my friends told me that they wash their hair everyday, so I decided to wash my hair everyday as well. During college, I realize that I can never grow my hair long anymore because it always split when it grows up to a certain point. Kind of sad when I tried so hard to grow enough hair to donate to that organization. Figured that even when they receive my hair, most damaged hair would be picked out. Gets quite frustrating to see unhealthy hair. I don't even dye, curl, straighten my hair.

A few weeks ago I decided to wash my hair every other day. It is very uncomfortable as I'm used to seeing puffy/volume soft hair every day. The hair would look greasy. Also, scalp gets a bit itchy. But the greasiness is natural hair oil. And scalp gets itchy because it used to its previous dryness. Hopefully, I stick to the plan.

:) Swedish people takes bath/shower every other day. So Americans probably obsessed with hygiene.

Kawaii Hayate

Kawaii Hayate and Chibi Edward Elric from FMA Brotherhood:

Yes. I know it sucks to be sick. It feels like the whole world hurts. It feels like the world is crumbling. Yes, it sucks to be sick.

But can't they be a little bit more understanding instead of subtlety blaming everyone for causing their immune system to fail? I always wonder when a sick person is so fragile and lethargic, how in the world do they have the energy to be mad at the world? If I were sick, I would probably be too tired to care and just want to sleep all day long like a polar bear hibernating his winter.

Thursday, October 29, 2009

Ah the good memories. Few days ago, I decided I should finish off Veronica Mars since I stopped after the end of second season. I believe, Veronica Mars got too emo for me. Right now, I am at the episode where they filmed the tragic scene of Logan and Veronica on Warren lawn of UCSD. So nostalgic for me. I remember waking up for an 8 AM class and walking through Warren Lawn in sophomore year. They either finished filming or hadn't start.

At the moment, it feels like my plans for fall are starting to fall into place. Trip to Norcal. Trip to Texas. Grad school apps and recommendations. Health insurance. The only thing short of my attention is exercising, since I have been too busy with GRE. Tonight is my last night of intense studying.

Tick tock...

Yesterday, while taking a practice GRE quantitative set, I encountered this problem:

Well, without the answer given nor the explanation. I know how in GRE exam, they tell you that drawings are not up to scale, and sometimes information is there just to mess you up!

When you see this problem, which angle do you think the 70 degrees represent? Eventually I ran out of time and wasn't able to figure it out even though geometry is usually one of my forte.

How would you solve this problem? Maybe, I'm just not seeing it.

Thursday, October 22, 2009

Just signed up for the GRE! 1.5 weeks left to bring up my verbal score! For some people, it is an acquired taste. Mugi cha is actually caffeine free, since it is just burnt rice.

To make cold mugi-cha, the lazy me usually just dump the tea bag into a pitcher of water. After all, it has to sit in the fridge for several hours or a day, so it would be enough time for the dilution process. Then few days ago, I tried putting hot water first and then fill the rest of the container with room temperature water. The taste is much concentrated and better! I bet my lazy method -- after the tea pitcher is placed in the fridge, due to the cold temperature, the dilution process stops at a certain point.
Antibiotics

It has been a long while since I've taken antibiotics for anonymous reason. Dad used to have a friend doctor who would prescribe him a lot of antibiotics, so whenever we get sick, antibiotics are available. Having little knowledge of antibiotics, I became too reliant on antibiotics whenever I had sore throat or a bad cold. Now I know that antibiotics are usually used for worst case scenarios and prescribed for a week cycle. Liver function weakens in the long run, and the antibiotics' effectiveness decrease due to over usage. I try to rely on my immune system more now.

What irritated me the most after taking antibiotics recently was that it leaves a white layer of stuff on my tongue. Supposedly, it is yeast from killing off all the good and bad bacteria. This white layer of yeast catches on to everything thing I eat, so the taste of the food stays in my mouth for hours. I can see it. I can taste it. I can smell it. Ugh! I want to get rid of it. So I try to eat something else to get rid of the taste, but then the new taste stays on. I realized that only chewing gum does the trick. I began eating yogurt, so hopefully the white layer of yeast rubs off soon.

---

The highlight for tonight is that I ate longan grown in California! My dad's coworker grew it himself. Quite amazing. I wonder if he grew it in a humid temperature controlled house. The difference between the ones I ate tonight and the ones shipped from China was that the skin layer was green and not brown. Regardless, it was so sweet, fresh, and yummy.

Tuesday, October 13, 2009

I feel powerless without money.
